Travel: South Carolina Part 4

Hello there all,

Earlier this week, I shared with you some of my photos from South Carolina. Now, I am on round 4, and we are almost done :(. I think we will only need one more part.

Part 4 is dedicated to pictures from a plantation just outside of Charleston, Middleton Place. This place was sooooo beautiful, and my history nerd was geeking out over the rich history of the place. Middleton Place is a Pre-Revolutionary War plantation with the oldest landscape garden in the US. It was spectacular to walk the grounds where such rich history was formed. Also, the trees there were some of the most beautiful trees that I have ever seen, and it has one of the oldest/biggest oak trees in the US thought to be between 800-1000 years old. Ya'll, my name is Autumn, so of course, I have a thing for trees.  So, this place was just amazing to see, and the pictures don't even begin to do it justice.

Must fuel for the journey with some Southern breakfast noms!

The drive there was full of insanely beautiful trees.

Also, don't you love that the marking for parking spots is indicated by trees?

What you walk up and see. One of the original guest houses which turned into the main homestead.

The main house which was destroyed during the Civil War.

 Garden tour

Garden view with the home. We took a house tour, too. However, we couldn't take pictures inside. If we were to do it over again, we would probably skip the tour because we didn't find the information super helpful in understanding the history and the tour guide wasn't our favorite.

Just some of the garden. No alligators in THIS body of water, but there were some in the other bodies of water around the property.

I'm sorry, but this moss is just so dreamy.

Part of the garden

View from the main house out to the Ashley River.

This is the old oak. Look at how big it is compared to me.

More beautiful tree branches...All so pretty.

On site, they had many volunteers to educate and teach you about historical Middleton Place.

Animals were on site, and this is important because...animals.

This guy became my best friend :).

 Candlemaking

These guys just wondered all around the property doing their thing.

This place was amazing.

Travel: South Carolina Part 3

Hello there all,

I know what you are thinking. Okay, Autumn, aren't you done with all of these posts? And the answer is "nope." You might have seen part one and part two earlier this week, so here I am with part three. Three posts in a week?!?!? WHHHHHHAT? I am a beast. I know.

Part three covers some of the Charleston exploring

Probably the best Charcuterie plate that I have ever assisted in devouring. So good. Too good. This was before some of the best pizza that I've ever had came out.

Hate chicken!

The houses in Charleston are just ridiculous. People actually live in these places. How even?

Seriously. The houses are insane.

We explored a bit of The Battery.

The Mister and I in front of Rainbow Row

The old city blocks reminded me of Europe

 Went to the old market

The Mister got me a Palmetto Rose

Everywhere we go, we always look into the beer scene.
 Gross.

Waterfront park again

 Ravenel Bridge

Part four will be coming up soon and will be mostly the plantation that we went to.

Travel: South Carolina Part 2

Hello there all,

Yesterday, I posted part one of my South Carolina adventure, so today, I am bringing you part two. Part two is: wedding day (although, I didn't take too many photos because the photographers are better at that stuff than me), Andrew Jackson State Park, exploring where the Mister grew up, and family BBQ.

The Mister and I at the reception.

The reception tablescape

Here is the bouquet from the toss. Funny story about this: I told The Mister that I was going to sneak out during the bouquet toss, and Julie, the bride (and The Mister's sister), came up to me during the reception and said "Here catch." She didn't even know that I was planning on booking it, and I ended up with the bouquet anyways.

Fried green tomatoes. When in the South, eat as the southerners eat!

Uniforms at the Andrew Jackson museum at the Andrew Jackson State Park. I am too much of a history nerd to skip out on this.

The Andrew Jackson museum

We went and visited some of the staple places that The Mister went to growing up, and this just so happened to include Sno Cones! Yes!

Family BBQ and swimming. Did I mention that it is HOT in SC? SOOOOO HOT!

I'm hoping to post part three later this week! Hope that you are enjoying all of this.

Travel: South Carolina Part 1

Hello there all,

Wow! It has been over a month since I have posted on here. I've been a busy bee, but I've also been a "It is so hot that I don't want to do anything bee." I have had a lot of people ask me about my South Carolina trip, so this week, I will be flooding this blog with different pictures from the trip (However, it won't be anywhere close to how many I actually took!) Hopefully, I'll be getting back into the swing of this blog. Sorry about my disappearance!

So, The Mister and I went to South Carolina at the end of June/beginning of July because his sister, Julie, was getting married in Rock Hill, SC. While we were there, we also visited his family and explored Charleston.

Part 1: traveling, exploring Rock Hill, seeing family, and rehearsal dinner

Of course taking the token feet picture with the PDX carpet before we left on our red eye to Charlotte, NC.

We made it!

Garden at the Bed and Breakfast that we stayed at. It was gorgeous. and I squeed from all of the cuteness throughout the whole place. Just look at the next couple of photos.

We did some exploring of Rock Hill, SC which is close to where the Mister grew up.

Had all of the Southern food and tried not to giggle every time I heard someone speak with a Southern accent.

 Found some adorable shops.

Still Rock Hill, SC

That is it for part 1. I'll have part 2 up here in the next couple of days.

Summer Movies

Hello there all,

Summer is here: the time for adventures,  reminiscing, and new opportunities.  There is something optimistic and exciting about Summer movies.  Afterwards,  I always want to hit the road and spend time with my lovelies.  Throughout the years, I have watched many movies that embrace these emotions. Here are my top ten favorite:

1.) The Sandlot One of my favorites with some of the best lines from a movie ever. Also, I can't go a Fourth of July without watching this scene from the movie.

2.) Now and Then This one is probably my favorite. I've loved it since it came out in 1995. It spoke so strongly to growing up as a girl, and I love that I can still relate to it.

3.) Dirty Dancing This movie is such a corny romantic movie, and I still love it. I can't help it.

4.) Wet, Hot American Summer Just saw this movie for the first time a couple of months ago, and it was absolutely hilarious. I hadn't laughed that much watching a movie for awhile. WATCH IT!

5.) Almost Famous So, I am noticing that most of these movies are set in a different decade. I can't help it. This one is equally as amazing. I'm such an old soul.

6.) Stand By Me I always kind of think of this as the Now and Then for boys. I just am a sucker for a group of friends growing up in the past I guess.

7.) Heavyweights This movie was kind of a staple in my household growing up. It is a wonderful summer camp movie that always made me laugh as a kid. Now, I just get kind of nostalgic for how wonderfully 90s it is.

8.) How to Make an American Quilt I've also read this book, and I just really love how it pieces together various different stories from a whole other generation. Told you: old soul.
9.) Into the Wild This is the only movie that doesn't actually take place just in Summertime, but it has such a sense of adventure and takes place after the main character graduates college. I've also read the book which was wonderful.

10.) The Goonies Maybe it is because I am an Oregonian, but Goonies is a perfect summer movie. It teams up adventure with the closeness of friends and some gorgeous scenery.

Now, let me know: what are your favorite summer movies? Which ones do you agree with? Which ones did I miss?
